Mr. Lertchai stated that this meeting served as an important platform for enhancing regulatory understanding between the two countries, which is especially significant at a time when Thailand and Bhutan are seeking to strengthen economic and trade cooperation, particularly relevant under the framework of the Thailand–Bhutan Free Trade Agreement. This will serve as an important mechanism for expanding trade and investment opportunities, especially in agricultural and food products that are of mutual interest to both countries.

The Deputy Secretary-General further stated that the Thai FDA places importance on trade promotion and trade facilitation, while at the same time improving its regulatory system to be efficient, transparent, and supportive of entrepreneurs. Under the “FDA on Health UP” policy, the Thai FDA is committed to streamlining its work processes to make them faster and more agile, in order to protect consumer safety without creating unnecessary obstacles for businesses. At the same time, the agency is driving forward the “From Local to Global” concept to strengthen the capacity of Thai entrepreneurs and enable them to compete more effectively in the global market.

This discussion also provided an opportunity to exchange information on the export of food and agricultural products, which will help create business opportunities for the private sectors of both countries and increase the availability of quality and safe food products for Thai consumers. In the long term, such cooperation will contribute to raising food standards and supporting the national economy.
