FDA - ACFS - DOH - OAE Four state agencies join hands to drive Thailand’s Food Management Plan

         FDA has signed the Memorandum of Understanding or MOU with the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS), Department of Health (DOH) and Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE) to collaboratively drive the implementation of Thailand’s Food Management Plan Phase 1 B.E. 2566-2570 (2023-2027) into effective concrete actions.

            Today (8 July 2024), Dr. Narong Aphikulvanich, Secretary-General of Food and Drug Administration announced to the press that food operations involve multiple agencies in various dimensions, including security, quality, safety, and nutrition. Currently, Thailand not only prioritizes the quality and safety of food to protect consumers but also emphasizes facilitating trade and investment to strengthen the Thai economy. Integration between relevant agencies is therefore crucial in leading Thailand towards sustainable food security, becoming a source of high-quality, safe, nutritious food, and promoting appropriate consumer behavior.

            The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for policy-level integration with three other agencies: the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards(ACFS), the Department of Health (DOH), and Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE). This cooperation aims to drive the implementation of Thailand’s Food Management Plan Phase 1 B.E. 2566-2570 (2023-2027) under the National Food Committee Act B.E. 2551 (2008) towards concrete and efficient practices. The signing of this MOU integrates operations at every levels focusing on addressing issues in a coordinated manner to achieve the set goals, leading to  food and nutrition security in both  normal and crisis situation. Additionally, the collaboration’s direction and overall strategic guidelines were announced, covering food security, food quality and safety, food education, and management, ensuring effective operations. This will result in Thailand's food management being systematic, consistent, and comprehensive, leading to sustainable food security.
