Dr.Surachoke Tangwiwat, Secretary-General of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), opened the workshop training for regional health product approval, ensuring the process aligns with the timeline outlined in relevant guidelines. The training held at Centara Grand Hotel, Government Complex, Chaengwattana Rd., Bangkok was attended by staff from the provincial public health offices across the country and from the FDA.
Dr. Surachoke Tangwiwat explained that the FDA has delegated the authority to approve health products to the local agencies to facilitate public services access in local area. Therefore, the training programme aimed to improve efficiency of the approval system in regional areas and ensure it follows the established timeline in the guidelines. This aligns with the FDA's policy of providing faster and more transparent services. In 2024, the FDA improved the approval process to be more convenient, faster, and efficient, resulting in a noticeable reduction of over 50% in processing time, covered 200 procedures. To ensure consistent standard of services nationwide, this meeting was held to enable regional staff to share knowledge, exchange experiences, and collaboratively address potential operational challenges.
The FDA Secretary-General further emphasized the importance of ensuring mutual understanding at all levels, aiming for a quick, transparent, and fair approval process that meets the needs of both businesses and consumers. The FDA is committed to continuously improving services to protect consumers and promote the sustainable growth of the country’s health product industry.
