On 6 January 2025, Dr. Surachoke Tangwiwat, Secretary-General of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), opened a workshop seminar to review the draft manual for standard operating procedures for regulating health products. This seminar was organized from 6-8 January 2025 at Centara Life Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre Chaeng Watthana, Bangkok. Officials from provincial public health offices nationwide, as well as FDA staff, participated in the meeting.
Dr. Surachoke Tangwiwat revealed that the FDA has a nationwide policy for consumer protection on health products, aiming to elevate consumer protection efforts and the approval and authorization of health products according to international standards, with transparency and modernization. This will contribute to Thailand's growth as a medical and healthcare services hub, boost the health product economy, and develop the organization into a high-performance entity capable of adapting to future changes, leading to sustainable development.
This seminar focused on developing a standard operating manual for regulating health products in compliance with legal requirements, ensuring uniform implementation across the country. The workshop allowed participants from regional offices nationwide to exchange knowledge, review, and improve the draft manual, ensuring it is practical and in line with connected working models while enhancing human resources' expertise to prepare for future changes.
The Secretary-General emphasized the FDA's commitment to driving consumer protection across the country, assuring the public that health products will be safe and of high quality. The FDA aims to continuously improve its services to protect consumers and foster the sustainable growth of the country's health product industry.
