Thai FDA and Minister Counsellor of the Royal Bhutanese Embassy Participate in Discussions on Health Product Import-Export Collaboration

The Food and Drug Administration and Minister Counsellor of the Royal Bhutanese Embassy joined in discussions and exchanges regarding necessary regulations for importing health products, especially food products. The objective was to foster collaboration and promote trade and investment between the two countries.

On June 5, 2024, Dr. Narong Aphikulvanich, the Secretary-General of the Food and Drug Administration and the executive team extended a warm welcome to Mr. Pema Wangyel, Minister Counsellor of Bhutan, and the delegation at the bilateral meeting of the Royal Bhutanese Embassy – Thai FDA. He revealed that the bilateral cooperation meeting provided an opportune occasion to foster mutual understanding of governance and regulations concerning the importation of food products. This included the exchanges of perspectives on challenges, barriers, and the facilitation of the import-export of health products between the Kingdom of Bhutan and Thailand.  The discussion was to enhance the standard quality and safety of health products, while avoiding the creation of trade barriers to health products which would strengthen the economies of the Kingdom of Bhutan and Thailand in the future.

Dr. Narong Aphikulvanich, the Secretary-General of the FDA, discussed in the meeting the positive relations between the Kingdom of Bhutan and Thailand, emphasizing the potential for future collaboration. He also noted that the meeting provided an opportunity to publicize the FDA's operational guidelines and expanded academic cooperation, with the goal of developing food product regulatory system that facilitates fast and effective approval and maximizes the benefit of the country.
