Thai FDA Joins 13 Partner Agencies in the 60th Destruction of Seized Narcotics, Over 44 Tonnes

The Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA), in collaboration with 13 partner agencies, has carried out to destroy seized narcotics. This marks the 60th narcotics destruction operation, involving more than 44 tonnes of narcotics confiscated from 55,876 cases, under the slogan “Never Stop to Burn – Ensuring Confidence, Preventing Recirculation, and Eliminating Harm to Society.” The operation aims to strengthen public confidence and transparently eradicate narcotic drugs from Thai society.

Ms. Supattra Boonserm, Secretary-General of the Thai Food and Drug Administration, together with Mr. Sirisuck Yoenhan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), stated that the Thai FDA, in cooperation with the ONCB, the Royal Thai Police, the Department of Medical Sciences, and the Royal Thai Army, organized the 60th destruction ceremony of seized narcotics, with a total weight exceeding 44 tonnes from 55,876 cases.

The narcotic substance with the largest volume was methamphetamine tablets, totaling more than 24,095 kilograms, followed by crystal methamphetamine (ice), ketamine, heroin, and other narcotic substances. The destruction operation was conducted over three days, from 17–19 November 2025. 

On 17 November 2025, the operation commenced with the inspection and verification of seized narcotics stored at the Thai FDA. The inspection committee conducted a rigorous examination of each item, including case numbers, types, and weights of the narcotics. Random sampling was also carried out by the Department of Medical Sciences to scientifically confirm that the seized items were indeed narcotic substances. 

On 18 November 2025 at 8:00 a.m., a convoy ceremony was held in front of the OSSC Building, Thai Food and Drug Administration, to transport the seized narcotics from the Thai FDA to Akkhie Prakarn Public Company Limited, Samut Prakan Province, for destruction. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Phatthana Phromphat, Minister of Public Health. 

On 19 November 2025 from 9:30 a.m. onwards, the official destruction of the seized narcotics took place at Akkhie Prakarn Public Company Limited, Samut Prakan Province. The Thai FDA invited relevant government agencies, diplomatic missions, and the media to witness the process as observers. Members of the public were also invited to follow the operation live via NBT Connext and Facebook Live on the FDAThai Fanpage, reinforcing transparency and public trust in the operation.
