Ms. Supattra Boonserm, Secretary-General of the Thai FDA, stated that the Thai FDA emphasizes the importance on promoting youth health as a foundation for long-term improvement of people's quality of life. The initiative is implemented in line with the policy of Mr. Pattana Promphat, Minister of Public Health, “Health Literacy for Quality Living,” and is consistent with the Thai FDA’s policy of “Protecting the Health of Thai People of All Ages,” through the continuously implemented Oryornoi School activities.

Recently, the Thai FDA collaborated with four pilot schools in Bangkok -Triam Udom Suksa School, Kasetsart University Laboratory School center for Educational Research and Development, Saint Joseph Convent School, and Saint Gabriel's College to organize activities that enhance knowledge and skills for more than 400 students. Under the “Cultivate” concept, the “Cultivate” component focuses on cultivating knowledge on health products and promoting label reading, while the “Empower” component develops communication skills. The objective is to empower students to become effective health product communicators who can contribute to improving the quality of life of Thai people in all dimensions. In addition, the Thai FDA plans to expand the “Oryornoi Youth Ambassador” network at the provincial level in collaboration with Provincial Public Health Offices in all 76 provinces, to establish a continuous and sustainable nationwide youth development system.

The Secretary-General further noted that youth who complete the “Cultivate & Empower” activities will have the opportunity to participate in the Oryornoi Youth Camp as the first generation of core Oryornoi Youth Ambassadors. The camp will provide advanced training in analytical thinking, creative media production, and youth leadership, with the aim of enabling participants to effectively disseminate accurate information on health products to friend, families, and communities.

This, in turn, will contribute to enhancing the quality of life and well-being of the Thai population. “Investing in youth development today is an investment in the health and well-being of Thai people tomorrow. The Thai FDA is committed to nurturing Oryornoi Youth Ambassadors as a key force in driving a health-literate society empowering people to make informed choices on health products and sustainably reduce the risks of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).”
