Klong Nam Kem Tanjai Group Community Enterprise
Clay Pot Crab (Pu Ob Ong) originated in the area of Thapthim Khlong Nam Kem, Laem Sing District, where the main livelihoods are agriculture and fruit processing. With an abundance of both fruits and fresh seafood, the Klong Nam Kem Tanjai Group Community Enterprise creatively developed new, unique products.
The idea was derived from "Pu Ob Ong" (Clay Pot Crab), a unique Thai crab dish from Chanthaburi province. This concept was further developed from a menu item that combines savory food (crab) and fruit (mangosteen). Sea crabs are stir-fried with a specially formulated mangosteen sauce, creating a rich, sweet, and sour taste, and then baked in a traditional clay pot. This production method is a long-standing local wisdom (food preservation). Additionally, electric heating elements are used to continuously bake the product in the pot, which extends the product's shelf life. This is a unique and distinctive method of food production.
