Nam Prik Sawan was created as a milder, more well balanced alternative to the intensely spicy Nam Prik Narok. The recipe was developed through blind testing to achieve a flavor profile that consumers prefer. The production process was also improved by making the product drier to extend its shelf life, switching from traditional grilled fish to fish powder, then baking the seasoned mixture after stir frying. This results in a longer lasting product that maintains its distinctive taste.
