Thai FDA Hosts 2026 Academic Conference Highlighting Research and Standards to Elevate Thai Health Products to the Global Stage

The Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) under the Ministry of Public Health organized the National Conference on Consumer Protection in Health Products 2026, held from 25–27 February 2026 at the Vayupak Convention Center, Centara Life Government Complex & Convention Center, Chaeng Watthana, Bangkok. The conference was held under the theme “From Local to Global: Research Builds the Foundation, Standards Build the Reputation, Reaching International Recognition.” The event aimed to promote research and strengthen standards for Thai health products in order to achieve international recognition.

            Dr. Ekachai Piansriwatchara, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, presided over the opening ceremony and stated that this academic forum serves as an important mechanism to advance consumer protection alongside innovation in health products under robust standards. The conference seeks to promote the proper commercialization of research outputs in compliance with relevant laws, thereby strengthening global confidence in Thai health products. It also aims to enhance collaboration among government agencies, academic institutions, and the private sector in driving Thailand’s health economy sustainably. A highlight of the first day was the keynote lecture titled “On a Historic Journey of The First Ever Thai Vaccine to Win International Recognition and Serve a Global Need,” which presented the success story of a Thai-developed vaccine that has gained international recognition. The session reflected the potential of Thai research to address real global health needs.

            Ms. Supattra Boonserm, Secretary-General of the Thai FDA, further noted that throughout the three-day conference, a range of lectures and discussion sessions were organized covering key topics such as: Translating research into practical health products for real-world healthcare system Success cases of Thai entrepreneurs in developing health products Global trends in food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, herbal products, and community health products The application of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to communicate health product information accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements. In addition, the conference featured academic competitions on consumer protection in health products, including both oral and poster presentations. These activities provided opportunities for researchers and professionals from across the country to present their work, exchange knowledge, and contribute to the development of policies and practical implementation.
