The Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reiterated that advertising cosmetics in Thailand does not require a license. However, all advertising content must be fair, truthful, and not misleading to consumers. The Thai FDA also warns the public to beware of fraudulent services claiming toobtain advertising license for cosmetics, which are unnecessary and potentially deceptive.

Dr. Roongrutai Mualprasitporn, Deputy Secretary-General of the Thai FDA, stated that although cosmetic advertisements are exempt from licensing requirements, the Thai FDA has recently detected fraudulent claims offering to obtain such licenses. However, all advertising must not contain false, exaggerated, or misleading claims-in particular, tthose implying therapeutic or disease-curing properties Businesses can refer to the 2024 updated Cosmetic Advertising Guidelines on the Thai FDA website or scan the provided QR code to ensure compliance and avoid actions that could lead to legal penalties.
The Deputy Secretary-General advised verifying that cosmetic products are properly notified with the FDA before making a purchase.
