Thai FDA–AMCHAM Dialogue Charts the Future of Thailand’s Health Sector Upgrading Health Product Regulation to Drive Innovation onto the Global Stage

The Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) held discussions with the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM) to exchange views on health product regulatory policies. The Thai FDA reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing its authorization system, fostering innovation, and developing regulations that strengthen Thailand’s competitiveness, while safeguarding public health and safety.

Ms. Supattra Boonserm, Secretary-General of the Thai FDA, together with Thai FDA executives, welcomed Ms. Wiyada Srinaganand, Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM) and Country Leader of 3M Thailand, and her delegation. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss and exchange views on health product regulatory policies, innovation promotion, and approaches to public-private collaboration in enhancing Thailand’s health product regulatory system to ensure greater efficiency and alignment with international standards.

During the meeting, AMCHAM representatives presented the “Forward Five 2026” policy recommendations aimed at strengthening Thailand’s competitiveness. AMCHAM also commended the Thai FDA’s progress in several areas, including the development of digital authorization and service systems; the Fast Track policy for pharmaceutical products; management of the impact on food packaging during the Middle East crisis; promotion of the “Healthier Choice” nutrition symbol; and continued improvements to medical device authorization processes.

The Secretary-General further stated that the Thai FDA shared its strategic direction under the “FDA ON Health UP” policy, which aims to enhance the health product regulatory system to be more efficient, modern, transparent, and aligned with international standards. The discussions also covered approaches to fostering innovation, regulatory development, and the application of digital technologies to improve service efficiency and facilitate business operations.

The cooperation between the Thai FDA and AMCHAM will serve as another important mechanism for strengthening Thailand’s health product regulatory system, enabling it to keep pace with evolving developments and support the country’s competitiveness, while sustainably safeguarding public health and safety.
