Khun Tuaad Sunless Salted Fish Buried In Sand
Due to Ranong Province's year-round rainy climate, the traditional "salted fish buried in sand" method emerged as an ingenious local preservation technique.
The process involves cleaning and salting the fish, wrapping them, and burying them in sand within a sheltered facility for a set period. Notably, the fish are then re-washed and air-dried without exposure to sunlight, followed by overnight refrigeration to enhance their aroma before packaging. Among their offerings, Threadfin (Plakulao) is their best-selling product.
